The Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has seized cash and gold valuables worth Rs 10 lakh from the possession of a senior inspector from the Legal Metrology Department, Himatnagar in Sabarkantha. He was earlier held after being accused of bribery by the agency.
According to the ACB, Hemant Kumar Vavani, was arrested for a bribery of Rs 15,000 in exchange of not taking legal action against a petrol pump owner in November last year.
The officials informed that he had approached the petrol pump owner to threaten him with sealing off his property over measurement complications. Following which, the ACB officials held and booked him under the sections of the prevention of corruption act.
