Ahmedabad Police on Saturday night arrested one person for allegedly carrying 450 kg of cow meat.
Acting on a tip-off, the Danilimda Police intercepted an auto-rickshaw carrying 450 kg of meat and arrested the driver, Zakir Khan Pathan, who lives in Behrampura area.
An official of Danilimda Police Station informed mediapersons that based on the inputs a team of Behrampura Police Station intercepted an autorickshaw driven by Zakir Khan Pathan on Saturday night and 450 kg meat was recovered from his vehicle.
Police sent the samples to the Forensic Sciences Laboratory and after the confirmation of it being cow meat, the accused was booked under various sections of the Animal Protection Act and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
Two more accused persons, Abrar and Sonu, are absconding.
