The sixth session of the 15th Gujarat Legislative Assembly will commence on February 19, and continue till March 28. The session, which will have 27 sittings, will include the presentation of the state budget for the financial year 2025-26 by Finance Minister Kanu Desai on February 20.
The session will begin with an address by Governor Acharya Devvrat on the first day. Following the Governor’s address, the Assembly will take up an expression of thanks, condolences, and the presentation of government ordinances.
On February 20, Finance Minister Desai will table the 2025-26 budget, along with supplementary expenditure statements for the years 2009-10 and 2010-11, and the fiscal year 2024-25.
The session will also include discussions on the budget, government resolutions, and demands, as well as the introduction of appropriation bills and other legislation, including private member bills.
Spokesperson Minister Rushikesh Patel highlighted the significance of the session, stating, “The 2025 budget will set a new direction for Gujarat’s development. The year 2025 is expected to be a milestone in the state’s progress.”
In the previous session, the state government had presented a budget of Rs 3,32,465 crore for the financial year 2024-25.
Meanwhile, the Union Parliament’s Budget Session is set to begin on January 31 and will continue till April 4. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to present the national budget on February 1.
