The much-anticipated Coldplay concert at Narendra Modi Stadium on January 25 and 26 has become the subject of a black market ticketing scheme. With fans from across Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, eager to attend the event, ticket sales through official online platforms have seen a surge. However, some individuals have taken advantage of the high demand by reselling tickets at inflated prices.
Two men, Vatsal Kothari, a resident of Akshardham Apartments in Bodakdev, and Bisep Khalas, from Vaarah Prabhu Society in Ranip, were arrested by the Local Crime Branch (LCB) team of Zone 2 DCP for engaging in the illegal activity.
Acting on a tip-off, the LCB team tracked down the suspects in Ranip and apprehended them, seizing four tickets in the process.
The tickets, originally purchased online for Rs 12,500 each, were being resold by the suspects for Rs 20,000 each, resulting in a profit of Rs 7,500 per ticket. The two men were attempting to capitalise on the growing demand for tickets to the concert.
The LCB team’s swift action led to the arrest of Kothari and Khalas, who are now under investigation for their involvement in the black market ticketing operation.
Earlier, officials warned the public to avoid purchasing tickets from unofficial sources, urging fans to only buy tickets through authorised platforms.
With the final preparations for the Coldplay concert underway, the police is maintaining a heightened presence at Narendra Modi Stadium.
