No shoes and socks in the examination hall – this is Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board’s novel idea to ensure students don’t cheat for the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams 2025 to be held from February 27. It’s not certain yet whether kerchiefs, where students hide small answer chits, have been banned too.
It has emerged that the board has also banned cell phones, watches and gadgets in the exam halls.
CCTV cameras have been installed in examination halls to fool-proof the process.
The policy is in line with the mandate that the Bihar Board has been following since 2018, which was consequentially adopted by Uttar Pradesh too. However, according to a media report, Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) students have been allowed to wear shoes and socks this year for the exams scheduled for February 1 to 5 to cope with cold weather.
So far, 8,92,882 students have signed up for the Class 10 board exam, which will take place at 989 locations across 87 zones. 4285 students with disabilities will also take the Class 10 exam this year.
There will be 672 locations across 59 zones for the Class 12 Gujarat Board exam. These consist of 152 facilities serving 1,11,384 registered Class 12 Science students and 530 facilities serving 4,23,909 registered Class 12 Commerce students. 144 students with disabilities will also take the Class 12 board exams this year.
The Class 10 and Class 12 Science exams will be over on March 10 and the Class 12 Commerce exams on March 17. The Gujarat Board exams will start on February 27. The board will also open a 24-hour control room two days prior to the exam start time to assist parents and students.
