The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) is expected to declare the results of its Class 10 and 12 board exams about a month earlier than usual this year.
This will give students more time to evaluate their options for further study. It will also help those who clear the supplementary examination to secure admission to courses for the next academic session.
According to top sources in the board, class 12 (science) results are expected in the second week of April. Results for Class 10 and Class 12 (general stream) are expected by the end of April.
In record time
“It is perhaps the first time that the GSHSEB will announce the results within 45 days of the commencement of the board exams,” said sources. Class 10 and 12 exams were conducted from March 11 to 26. There were 9.17 lakh students who registered for class 10 exams held in 918 centres this year.
Around 65,000 teachers have been assigned board exam assessment duties, with the manpower tripling this year. Centralized assessment centres have been increased from 374 last year to 459 this year. The intake process for engineering and pharmacy courses is also likely to be expedited.
Sources in the board stated that the preparation for early declaration of results had begun much in advance. “Assessment of 60% of Class 10 answer sheets is already over. The board has also begun evaluation of papers and data entry for Class 12 exams. This will facilitate early compilation of results,” sources said.
