The 9th Vibrant Ahmedabad National Book Fair 2024 kicked off on Saturday at the GMDC Ground, with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurating the event. The book fair, organized by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, will run from January 6 to 12, and will feature over 140 book stalls from 65 publishers across the country.

The Chief Minister visited various stalls after the inauguration and bought books such as the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and Ramayana from Pustak Parab. He also praised the efforts of the organizers and the participants for promoting the culture of reading and writing in the city.

The book fair will offer millions of books for sale, covering a wide range of subjects such as history, Sanskrit, art, architecture, children’s literature, religion-spirituality, science, and philosophy. Readers can also donate their books to the fair and receive books from other donors.

The book fair will also host various literary events every day, such as Literary Week, Children’s Film Festival, Gyan Ganga Workshop, Kavi Sammelan, Mushaira, and Talk Show. These events will showcase the talents of young and established writers, poets, artists, and speakers, and will provide a platform for engaging literary discussions and performances.

The Gyan Ganga workshop, aimed at enhancing the writing skills of the youth, will conduct daily workshops on various topics from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The book fair will also display the creative works of students from the Municipal School Board, who have made the ‘Best out of Waste’ from recycled materials.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ahmedabad Mayor Pratibhaben Jain, MP Kirit Solanki, Deputy Mayor Jatin Patel, Ahmedabad MLAs, Standing Committee Chairman Devang Dani, Municipal Commissioner M Thennarassan, councilors, and book lovers.
