Gujarat drug smuggling, Amazon bribery case must be investigated under Supreme Court supervision: Congress

| Updated: September 22, 2021 22:57

The Congress party on Wednesday told the press that an inquiry should be held under the Supreme Court into the alleged drug smuggling in Gujarat and the alleged bribery linked to the e-commerce website Amazon. The Congress party has also sought an answer from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on both these issues related to national security.

Congress general secretary and Chief Spokesperson, Randeep Surjewale said, ” These issues are concerned with the country’s security and those involved in these issues are guilty of sedition and that is why the prime minister will have to answer the nation.”

He also added that both these cases should be investigated by the judges of the Supreme Court. A special SIT should also be set up for this.

The 2,988 kilograms of heroin, valued in crores, was recovered from the Mudra port operated by Surjewale Adani Group. This heroin has been seized by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). Surjewale has questioned the officials’ statements in this whole chapter.

Surjewale said that those involved in these cases are “traitors.”

He said, “Should this matter now not be investigated by a special commission of sitting judges of the Supreme Court and a special SIT be put at their disposal.”

“The e-commerce giant has spent Rs 8,546 crore on legal fees. The total budget of the Indian law ministry is Rs 1,100 crore,” Surjewale said on Amazon.

Surjewale asked, “The so-called alleged bribery of Rs 8,546 crore was being given to whom in the Modi government? Who received the money? Was this money given to annihilate the trade and business of crores of small shopkeepers, MSMEs and traders so that e-commerce company like Amazon could take away their businesses and livelihood?”

The website said that they are taking the whole incident seriously and they will co-operate fully with India in the investigation.

The Congress leader alleged this amount was being given to a government clerk, this amount was being given to the top people in the government.

“Will the prime minister of India raise and demand from his US counterpart that criminal action be initiated in the United States for alleged bribery against Amazon. Will the Prime Minister answer whether this is not a serious breach of national security?”, he asked.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left for the US this morning.

“Corruption, drug-dealing conspiracies against India’s youth, loss of millions of jobs – the Modi government’s responsibility now is greater,” Surjewale added.

Surjewale said that the Modi government has completely failed and the entire case should be investigated by Supreme Court judges.

Surjewale did not want to see the whole incident against the BJP and Congress and said that the whole incident is endangering the future of the youth and small traders.

The Congress leader alleged that the Narcotics Control Bureau, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), CBI, Intelligence Department, Home Ministry and all the people were sleeping.
