Gujarat Election 2022: First-Phase Campaigning Will End Today

Tuesday marks the conclusion of the first round of election campaigning in Gujarat’s 89 seats. Voting for the first phase will take place on December 1. Voting will take place for the remaining 93 seats on December 5.

J P Nadda, President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and Union Minister Smriti Irani are scheduled to campaign for BJP candidates in the first phase in Bhavnagar and Gandhidham (Kutch district) today.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also campaign today for BJP candidates running in the December 5 second phase of voting.

Isudan Gadhvi, Parshottam Solanki, Kunwarji Bavaliya, Kantilal Amrutiya, Rivaba Jadeja, and Gopal Italia are among the prominent candidates in the first round.

Isudan Gadhvi is the chief ministerial candidate of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), running from the Khambhalia seat in Devbhumi Dwarka district.

Former Gujarat minister Parshottam Solanki, six-time MLA Kunwarji Bavaliya, Morbi’s ‘hero’ Kantilal Amrutiya, Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s wife Rivaba, and Gujarat AAP president Gopal Italia are among the prominent candidates running in the first phase of the state Assembly elections.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Nadda, and other BJP leaders have already held rallies to rally support for their party’s nominees in the first phase of voting.

Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP’s national convener and Delhi Chief Minister, has also extensively campaigned for his party’s candidates and made a slew of promises to the people of Gujarat if his party is elected to power in the state, which has been governed by the BJP for the past 27 years.

The Congress party’s president, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot have been prominent campaigners for their party’s nominees.
