|Gujarat | Updated: September 18, 2022 14:25

Former Home Minister and ex-Chairman of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), Vipul Chaudhary appeared to be in a bad shape. The SIT formed after his arrest is preparing to register an FIR against more than 50 close relatives and associates including wife, son, friends, and business partners.

The SIT has discovered evidence, which established that Chaudhary was making profits and earned money through corruption in countless roles.

To dig out more facts, three other officials- RV Vinci, JP Solanki, and MM Sarvaiya have been included in the SIT team.

Meanwhile, the current SIT comprises- DIG Makrand Chauhan, DySP Ashutosh Parmar, and 3 other police officials.

After registering the FIR against the accused Chaudhary, wife Geetaben and son Pawan, a separate list has been prepared that included Pawan Chaudhary’s close friends and in-laws of Vipul. It is alleged that all of them had invested the money earned through corruption. Besides, the SIT also suspected the involvement of the Board of Directors and several other employees of Dudhsagar Dairy.

It is also alleged that Chaudhary was also involved in the irregularities over the formation of ‘Matrushri Kankuba Foundation’ in the name of his mother.

As SIT sources established, the investigation will reach the Charity Commissioner’s office, where names of many big faces will be revealed.

Chaudhary, who worked at Dudhsagar Dairy for over 11 years, is accused of having dispersed the earned money through corruption in 31 different companies, where CA Shailesh Parikh had played an important role.

It is noteworthy that Chaudhary and Shailesh are both on remand.

As the investigation progresses, the case against Vipul, family, and relatives is getting more intense and tighter.

After Vipul Chaudhary’s arrest, many politicians are seen coming in the clasp of suspicion. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela, who held his support to make Chaudhary retain the post as the chairman of NDDB (National Dairy Development Board) and former leader of Opposition Arjun Modhwadia had reportedly written a recommendation letter seeking Chaudhary’s release.

In connection with this letter, the Mehsana Court has issued notice to Vaghela and Modhwadia.  Both the leaders are to appear in court on October 6.

Vipul Chaudhary, the former Home Minister of Gujarat and ex-Chairman of Dudhsagar Dairy, Mehsana, one of the major players in the cooperative dairy sector, detained for his alleged irregularities of around INR 500 crore was put on a 7-day remand by the District Sessions Court.

Vipul Chaudhary will be on remand till September 23.

Chaudhary was held in context of an offence (C R No. 5/2022) registered at Mehsana ACB Police Station, under sections 406,409,420,465,467, 468, 471, 120(B) of IPC and sections 12, 13(1), 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act.

The fake companies were set up in the name of Vipul Chaudhary’s wife, son and CA.

The investigators have caught hold of various bank accounts related to these companies. Apart from the Bonus scam and fodder scam, it was revealed that Vipul Chaudhary was indulged in widespread corruption in assigning contracts to advertising agencies for publicity hoardings of Dudhsagar dairy. He was also accused of having committed financial malpractices in purchase of milk coolers for the dairy.

In 2020, an Ahmedabad Sessions Court granted relief to Vipul Chaudhary, in an alleged bonus scam of Rs 14.8 crore, allowing him to file nomination for the election of Mehsana Dudhsagar dairy management committee elections.

Vipul Chaudhary had been sacked earlier from both Amul’s parent company GCMMF and Dudhsagar dairy over his alleged role in connection with Rs 22 crore cattle fodder scam.
