A fisherman from Gujarat was bit by a snake while he was fishing mid-sea and was evacuated by the Indian Coast Guard on December 23.
As per the officials, this is the second such incident within 15 days where the Court guard rescued and provided the man with medical assistance.
Reportedly, the fisherman was retrieving a fishing net about 17 nautical miles southwest of Dwarka when he suffered the snake bite. On receiving a call about the man of the fishing boat “Ritika” being bit by a snake, the Interceptor Boat-152 reached for rescue. It was on operational deployment, but was diverted to evacuate the fisherman.
On receiving a distress call about the master of the fishing boat “Rutika” being bit by a snake, the Interceptor Boat -152 which was on operational deployment was diverted to evacuate the fisherman.
He was provided with first-aid and initial medical assistance and then was brought to Okha harbour for further treatment. He was later shifted to a government hospital. His condition is reported to be stable then after.
