Gujarat Government Confirms The First Case Of Omicron In Gujarat.

| Updated: December 4, 2021 16:34

Manoj Aggarwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat has confirmed that Zimbabwe bound Jamnagar Native is tested positive for Omicron. He said the Government is monitoring the situation very closely. The testing samples taken from the 72-year-old man coming home to Morkanda in Jamnagar from Zimbabwe were sent to the laboratory for genome sequence and were found to be Omicron positive.

Putting the confusion at rest, the Government has declared the presence of the Omicron virus in the sample. Immediately the steps have been taken to screen all Ninety people who came into contact with the infected person. The Testing will be done in Gujarat Labs.

In the wake of the newly emerging situation with the confirmation of Omicron’s presence in Gujarat, the guidelines issued by the Central Government will have to be scrupulously followed. The Governments all over had been caught unaware during the second wave and Gujarat was no exception. One of the reason attributed to the unexpected changing of the entire Gujarat ministry – to give place to the present one in September 2021 is the heavy criticism about the perceived mismanagement during the second wave. In the possibility of a third wave coming, Government would not want to take any chances when the elections are approaching.
