Gujarat Government To Begin E-FIR Service

A new initiative of the e-FIR service will be launched soon by the Gujarat government, allowing citizens to report vehicle and mobile phone theft online without travelling to the police station.

State home minister Harsh Sanghavi addresed the people about this new e-FIR service and stated that the police will contact the complainant within 48 hours after the filing of FIR and visit the spot of the vehicle or mobile phone theft. The police will send a report to the court after completing the investigation within 21 days, he added.

Through this fascility, the complainant will be informed via email or text message about the submission of the online complaint and the status of the inquiry. The police will also send the information to the insurance provider through email or text message, making it simpler for the complainant to submit an insurance claim.

“This new E-FIR project will not only help the public of state but also decrease the workload in police stations of state by minimum 15%.” the minister informed.

The Gujarat police will visit roughly 750 various locations to educate the public about the benefits and uses of the programme in order to raise awareness of this E-FIR project among citizens.

“For providing all citizen-centric information about the Application, the whole administration from the home minister of state to DCPS, ACPs and Pls, will reach the public through various institutes, colleges and universities in the coming days,” Sanghavi said.

The state’s home minister further disclosed that “the awareness campaign will begin on July 23 and last until August 14 when senior police officials and the home department will tour colleges and address the issues facing the public and the usage of E-FIR applications.”

The Gujarat State Police CCTV command and control system is connected with the e-FIR service. When an e-FIR is lodged, the vehicle number will immediately flash at CCTV command and control when the felon travels on public roadways in the stolen car. As a result, stealing incidents can be found out right away.
