| Updated: May 25, 2024 15:10

The Gujarat State Football Association (GSFA) on Saturday announced the commencement of the Gujarat State Futsal Club Championship 2024 for the fourth year in a row. The championship is taking place from May 25 to May 31, 2024, at Sama Sports Indoor Hall in Vadodara.

A total of 15 clubs of men and 4 clubs of women from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Vapi, and Rajkot are participating. The tournament will adhere to a league knockout schedule.

Speaking on the commencement of the tournament, GSFA President Parimal Nathwani said: “Futsal is an indoor and mini version of football, which has been getting popularity in Gujarat off late. GSFA has played a major role in making it popular in the state. We have been organising the Futsal Championship for the four years now. The tournament has received a very good response.”

The Gujarat Senior Men’s Futsal Club Championship is in its fourth season, and the Women’s Futsal Club Championship is in its third. The champion men’s team will be nominated for the 2025 AlFF Futsal Club Championship.

Last year, ARA FC won the women’s category, while Baroda Football Academy won the men’s category. The winning team receives a prize money of 50,000 rupees. GFSA is hosting the tournament with the support of the Baroda Football Academy and the Baroda District Football Association.

The GSFA’s YouTube channel is streaming the live matches from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Gujarat is the first state to initiate the State Football Club Championship in an effort to raise awareness of and increase the popularity of this emerging form of football.
