Jamnagar: The Gujarat High Court has released an accused Akbar Ali Naik amongst the two on bail who was involved in the much-talked-about GG Hospital sexual abuse case in Jamnagar city.
While the other accused is waiting for the High Court to show readiness for the narco test. It is worth mentioning that during the covid epidemic in the government covid hospital, the incident of sexual exploitation of contract employees was brought to light.
Female employees of the covid ward at GG Hospital in Jamnagar city were sexually abused by male staff recruited by the Patient Welfare Committee. The incident made its impact as far as Gandhinagar. The then Chief Minister Rupani had ordered strict action against the then Collector. The Collector had constituted a three-member committee headed by SDM Astha Dangar and headed by ASP Nitesh Pandey and Dean of Medical College Nandini Desai.
The incident sparked protests from the city’s women and women’s organisations as well as political parties. A week after this incident, police registered a complaint against LB Prajapati and Akbar Ali Nayak as accused. After his remand, he was sent to jail.
