Gujarat High Court Orders Premature Retirement of Two Lower Court Judges

The Gujarat High Court has ordered premature retirement of two lower court judicial officers. The decision, the Gujarat High Court said, was taken in public interest. The decision has been taken based on the opinion of the Screening Committee, the High Court said.

The High Court ordered premature Retirement of Shailesh Pravinkumar Bhatt, Additional District Judge, Radhanpur and Khumansinh Natvarsinh Meghat, a judge at a family court in Ahmedabad under the provision of Rule 21 of Gujarat State Judicial Service Rules, 2005 considering the overall service record of said Judicial Officers. The Gujarat government was forwarded the opinion of the screening committee.

Accordingly, the Gujarat government issued a notification to prematurely retire the two judges by giving them three months’ pay and allowances in lieu of notice period. 2022 thereby prematurely retiring the aforesaid two Judicial Officers.

Similarly, six Judicial Officers also had been prematurely retired vide notification dated July 8 and August 4 of the current year again in public interest by the State Government on the recommendation of the Gujarat High Court.
