| Updated: May 30, 2022 11:15

‘Gujarat House’ was inaugurated yesterday at University of Ladakh by MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh, Tashi Gyalson.

This is a part of an MoU that was signed between University of Gujarat and University of Ladakh in 2021. The two universities had agreed for a cultural exchange, deepening the ties on a social level. This exchange of culture will include providing information and understanding of the states’ unique traditions and rich history.

During the inauguration ceremony, MP Namgyal said that currently, youngsters in Ladakh have to seek higher education in other states like Chandigarh and Jammu & Kashmir. He insisted, “The University of Ladakh and the announcement of Sindhu Central University by PM Narendra Modi, also medical College in Leh and Engineering college in Kargil, students will not only be relieved of the economic burden but also be free of the threat of losing the cultural identity.” said the MP.

Besides cultural exchange, the MoU also calls of collaboration on sustainability, encouraging research and innovations, as well as entrepreneurship. The two parties swill also discuss strengthening core strengths, and work towards mutual goals like tackling climate change and rural development.

As such, the “Gujarat House’ at University of Ladakh will promote this give-and-take.

As part of the MoU, University of Ladakh set up a ‘Ladakh House’ at the University of Gujarat in December 2021.
