| Updated: July 5, 2022 17:29

The largest hospitality company in India, Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), today announced the signing of a Ginger hotel in Ahmedabad. The existing hotel, which is in the heart of the city, will be upgraded to the Ginger brand after renovations. Himalaya Elanza Private Limited and this hotel have an operating lease.

Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL, commented on the signing, “A key economic and industrial hub, Ahmedabad is a leading metro with significant tourism potential. The signing of this Ginger hotel is consistent with IHCL’s strategy of increasing our presence in key domestic markets. With this acquisition, IHCL will now have six hotels in the city across multiple brands. We are delighted to be working on this project with the Himalaya Group.”

The hotel, which is part of mixed-use development, is strategically located in Ahmedabad’s RTO Circle, an important residential and business area. The hotel will have over 110 rooms and will overlook the cityscape. It will also have an all-day diner and a fitness centre, making it ideal for business travellers. The hotel is slated to open in 2022.

Ahmedabad, the financial hub of Gujarat, is situated on the banks of the Sabarmati River. The city is well-known for its extensive history and heritage in addition to being the commercial hub of the state.

With the addition of this hotel, IHCL will have 16 hotels in Gujarat across brands, three of which are currently under construction.
