Gujarat: Interior Designer Duped Of Rs 6 Lakh By Polish Company

Ambawadi Cyber Crime police filed a complaint regarding an interior designer who duped of Rs 6 lakhs over a job lure. Bimal Shah, 54, informed the police on Tuesday that he received a job offer on August 3 from a Polish Company namely Crop Science Bayer via an email.

Because of the Covid 19 pandemic, he had lost his job. He filled the form sent by the company and sent his resume on August 8. Next day, he received a call from a representative of the company who informed that Shah was being offered the role of project manager.

Later, Shah received the offer letter which was signed and sent back to the company. He later received another email which had a payment link and instructed him to pay Rs 34,660 as visa fee. For the same, he used his daughter’s account.

On August 20, Shah received another email seeking Rs 89,440 as the work permit fee which he paid. A week later, he received another email that demanded Rs 2,19,976 as travel insurance fee to travel to Poland.

On August 31, Shah received another email to fill the form to open a bank account in Poland for which he was told to pay Rs 2,39,057. Shah followed the instruction.

Then in September, he received another email seeking money but by then he realised that he was being duped. He approached the cyber crime police and filed a plea.

On Tuesday, Cybercrime filed a complaint under provisions of cheating and breach of trust.
