Surat Police issued a lookout notice against the Managing Director of Mumbai-based Hikal company Samir Hiremath for an illegal chemical waste disposal case at Sachin GIDC at Surat. The toxic gas leakage from the tanker of Hikal company led to the deaths of six people and injured many others.
The crime branch of Surat Police had issued multiple notices to the Director of Hikal company during the investigation without any responses drawing suspicion towards the company. After no responses, the crime branch was forced to get the arrest warrant order from the court.
Hiremath has managed to escape the police whenever they made a visit to Mumbai which has led the police to issue a lookout notice against him. Surat Police has affixed the notice at various public places including Surat airport, and railway stations.
The report of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) states that the acidic gases Hydrogen Sulfide and Hydrogen Cyanide had been produced due to the sulphide and cyanide found in the chemical sample. The mixture of the two gases hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen cyanide caused toxic effects.
