While carrying out a raid at ‘Greenstone Villa’ farm house in Navakhal village, police arrested as many as 25 people including 10 women enjoying a booze party in Anklav Taluka, situated in Anand district of Gujarat.

India’s Gujarat state is said to be a dry state where sale and consumption of liquor is completely prohibited.

Narendrasinh Pravinsinh, a head constable at Police Station in Anklav Anand stated, “Police Inspector H.M. Rana had received a tip-off that a liquor party was going on in Greenstone Villa farm house.”

While inquiring about the loud music at the villa, the police were informed about the birthday celebration of a 22-year-old Siddhi Bhuva.

Nearly 25 youth including 10 women, all in their 20’s were enjoying the liquor party.

After the raid, police had seized five-empty IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor) bottles, three-sealed ones, and two half-emptied bottles from the place.

Total 10 bottles were recovered. All party youths were from Vadodara district and had come all the way to Anand to celebrate Siddhi’s birthday.

Property worth INR 11 lakh was also confiscated including vehicles.

The Gujarat Prohibition Act, 1949 clearly stated that police can arrest a person for purchasing, consuming, or serving alcohol without a valid permit with punishment ranging from three-months to five years in prison.
