Minister of State for Home Sports, Youth Service And Cultural activities Govt. of Gujarat – Harsh Sanghavi flagged off all CAPFs(Central Armed Police Forces) Cyclothon from Gandhinagar to Imphal at BSF campus Gandhinagar on January 3.

Dignitaries including Ashish Bhatia – IPS DG of Police, G S Malik – IPS, IG BSF Gujarat Frontier and senior officers of BSF and other Armed Forces made their presence at the event.

The cyclothon is being organised under Fit India Movement as a part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, as informed by G S Malik, IPS, IG Gujarat Frontier while welcoming the Chief Guest and other dignitaries.

In his welcome speech, G S Malik threw some light on how the BSF has organized similar events before and how the security force is maintaining strict vigil on the Indo-Pakistan border. ” Gujarat Frontier has sealed one of the most challenging areas called Haramai Nala by establishing observation posts 1164, 1164 and 1169 at entry points there. As a result, there has been no intrusion in the Creek area or Harami nala till today,”, he said.

A cultural program was followed by the IG’s address where dance performances, live singing and poetry recitation were showcased.

While Addressing the gathering, Harsh Sanghavi expressed his appreciation for the BSF and stated that the entire state of Gujarat was proud  of the Force. Sanghavi also commended the unity of BSF: ” When I was trying to understand the system of BSF from I.G Malik, I learnt  that BSF is the world’s biggest joint family. Officials from various cultures and regions have come together leaving their families and have created a unique familiar environment in the force, this rarity can barely be found anywhere in the world.”

Later in the event, the Chief Guest was presented with A Smirit Chihan ( memento) by G S Malik, IPS, IG BSF Gujarat Frontier. A vote of thanks was presented by Eapen P V, DIG/PSO, Gujarat Frontier, where he thanked the State Home Minister for this presence.

After the event, Sanghavi also took a detailed tour of the BSF Gujarat headquarters campus. He visited places like Buddha Herbal Garden, Officers mess, Ration stores, Frontier Hospital, arms and ammunition room and Library.
