Gujarat: Three Communities In Radhanpur, Patan Calls For Bandh Over Dhandhuka And Shergadh Incidents

| Updated: January 29, 2022 22:41

With a call for observing a bandh, over 15,000 people belonging to the Bharwad, Chaudhary and Thakor community gathered in Shergadh village of Radhanpur, Patan on Saturday, January 29.

The local community leaders have called for a bandh over the killing of a Bharwad youth in the Dhandhuka town of Ahmedabad district and an attack on a woman by a person of a minority community.

Leaders from Banaskantha including Shankar Chaudhary (BJP) of Banas Dairy, Banas Bank’s Chairman – Anadabhai Patel, MLA from Deesa – Shashikant Pandya, Former MLA of Radhanpur – Lavingji Thakor and Former MLA from Radhanpur – Alpesh Thakor gathered with their supporters to demand justice in both the cases.

BJP Leader Shankar Chaudhary told media persons, “We have gathered in huge numbers to protest the killing of the youth and an attack on one woman. People here demand that criminals should be brought to justice and strict punishment should be imposed on them.”

He added that they will bring the matter to the notice of the Gujarat Minister of State for Home Affairs, Harsh Sanghavi and will demand strict actions against the accused of both incidents.

According to the Superintendent of Police, Akshayraj Makwana, one-sided love or money angle cannot be ruled out in the incident relating to the attack on the woman because the accused and the woman knew each other for a long time.

However, the investigation in both the cases is underway. Also, MoS Home, Harsh Sanghavi has announced that the investigation of the Bharwad youth murder case will be undertaken by the State ATS.
