India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that Gujarat is likely to witness heavy rainfall in the next two days. While today, heavy rainfall is expected to lash Kutch, Banaskantha and Sabarkanth districts, Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar are likely to get scatted showers. Meanwhile, Patan, Mehsana, Aravalli, Surendranagar, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Botad and Kheda might see heavy downpour. Thunder and strong winds are also a possibility.
The state has already received more than 66% of the average rainfall for the season. As far as zones are considered, rainfall is concentrated mostly in Kutch, Saurashtra, and South and Central Gujarat. North Gujarat has seen some rains but not as much as other regions. However, it is believed that in the next week this region will also get heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, the IMD forecasts heavy rainfall in neighbouring states of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Northern India is expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall from July 28. The department believes that rainfall in northern and central regions will start to slow down significantly from early August. These regions will see the last of the monsoon by mid-August.
