Gujarat Visit: Kejriwal promises Loan Waiver worth INR 2 Lakhs If Party Voted To Power

| Updated: September 3, 2022 07:47

Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor and Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal on Friday, September 2, 2022 promised loan waivers worth INR 2 lakh to farmers should the party be elected to power in Gujarat’s upcoming assembly elections to be held in December this year.

This was stated by Kejriwal while he was addressing farmers in Dwarka district on the first day of his two-day visit to the state.

Pledging to the farming community, he said, “Free electricity for 12 hours during the day, buying crops at the minimum support price and compensation of INR 20,000 per acre of land in case of crop failure.”

“Though MSP is announced every year, farm produce is not sold at that price. It is my guarantee that our government will buy at MSP if farmers do not find any other buyer who is willing to buy their produce at MSP,” Kejriwal declared.

The AAP leader furthered, “A government headed by his party in the state will first cover five farm produce—wheat, paddy, cotton, chana and groundnut—under the ‘buy at MSP’ programme and then add more commodities to the list going forward.”

After coming to power in Gujarat, the AAP leader promised to scrape off the current land survey techniques applied by the current BJP government and a fresh land survey will be commissioned and the command area of the Narmada Dam will be increased to make sure its benefits reach every corner of the state.

Assuring to ease out the plight of the farmers, the AAP leader lashed back at all the previous ruling governments in Gujarat and ensured farmers of fulfilling all of their issues that they have been facing and will face in near future.

“People ask me how AAP, a ten-year-old party, is creating miracles. It’s because of the blessings of the poor that we are continuously moving ahead,” Kejriwal asserted.

Attacking the leading national parties- the BJP and Congress, the AAP convener pressed, “If you want free power and free education, vote for us. If you want corruption and gundaism (hooliganism), (then) vote for them.”

Over the last few months in all of his repeated visits to the BJP-ruled state, Delhi’s CM Kejriwal has made countable pre-poll promises of providing free and quality health-care facilities, free education in government-aided schools, and then to provide free electricity up to 300 units per month. He also assured of providing an unemployment allowance of INR 3,000; 10 lakh government jobs; and a monthly allowance of INR 1,000 for women.

Pointing to the rising prices of petrol and diesel at regular intervals, Kejriwal slammed the BJP government and shouted, “They (BJP) recently formed governments in Madhya Pradesh (2020) and Maharashtra (2022) by purchasing MLAs (of other parties). They also tried to do the same in Delhi, as they offered INR 20 crore to each AAP MLA (to switch sides). They were ready to spend INR 800 crore to buy our MLAs.”

However, the ruling party BJP had dismissed all the charges pressed by the AAP convener, Kejriwal and accused the leader of making false claims just to divert people’s attention from the corruption charges against Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia.
