A fisherman from Gujarat has become the victim of international tension in the Strait of Hormuz. A cargo ship from Gujarat crossing the Strait of Hormuz became the target during a crossfire between Iran and the US.
As per the information, a ship belonging to Gujarat named ‘MSV Al Fayez Noor Suleimani-1’ was sailing from Dubai to Yemen. On May 7, it had reached the Strait of Hormuz, and while crossing it, the ship became the victim of intense gunfire between the Iranian and US naval forces. During this firing, the ship was severely damaged and started sinking into the sea.
According to the General Secretary of the Indian Sailing Vessels Association, a man named Altaf Talab Kar, a young man from Salaya in Gujarat’s Devbhumi Dwarka district, was on duty in the engine department of the ship. During the intense firing, Altaf was severely injured and died before he could receive any treatment.
As per media reports, there were 17 more sailors on the ship. Miraculously, they were rescued by another ship that was passing nearby.
