Surat city has witnessed a surge in the sales of electric vehicles as per the statistics of the vehicles registered in the RTO books of the state.
About 2,627 electric vehicles have been sold in Surat while only 1100 have been sold in Ahmedabad, 460 in Rajkot and only 350 in Vadodara.
According to sources, the government has decided to subsidize up to Rs 20,000 for two-wheelers and Rs 1.50 lakh for cars to boost sales of electric vehicles in the state.
On the other hand, Surat RTO also ranks first in paying the subsidy announced by the government. Hardik Patel, RTO in charge of Surat RTO, has approved subsidies for all eligible vehicles.
As per the guidelines of the government, the application is being approved on a daily basis so that the vehicle owners can easily get the subsidy.
