It is now known that Gujarat’s Udhna Railway Station is about to undergo a revamp. Rs 199.02 crores will be invested to modify the station into a smart and green one.

The updated station will be available for passengers/ commuters by June 2024, shares Darshana Jardosh, Union Minister of State for Railways.

After the revamp, the station shall include arrangements for specially-abled people. That shall remain one of the highlights of the station. Besides that, the upgraded station will have enough space for passengers and commercial purposes.

Jardosh shared photos of the station on Twitter and wrote that Udhna Railway Station in South Gujarat will be renovated at the price of Rs199.02 crore.  She also wrote that the railway station is expected to be ready by June 2024. The photos were titled as “Glimpses of the proposed Udhna Station Special Features: Divyangjan Friendly, Ample Passenger & Commercial Area, Smart & Green Station.”

Besides being a part of the Udhna Station’s Revamp, Jardosh had also inaugurated several passenger amenities for Udhna and Surat railway stations. The amenities include a new platform, new escalators and an extended footprint over the bridge at Udhna Station.

The Indian Railways Station Development Corporation had called for bids through Requests For Qualification (RFQ) in order to refurbish both Surat and Udhna Railway stations. The objective was to convert these stations into “Railo-Polis”, which is a multi-modal transport hub, that would provide top-notch amenities to travellers while being a lucrative place to attract business opportunities. Officials reveal that Surat station will be developed at 3,40,131 square metres and the Udhna station will be renovated at over 7,38, 088 square metres.

Officials further added that refurbishing work at both stations was aimed to bolster tourism and consolidate the local economy. Hence, both the stations will be developed along the lines of global standards and they will provide optimum, high-class level amenities for travelers.
