At the third convocation ceremony at Gujarat University of Transplant Sciences (GUTS) on Civil Hospital campus, Saturday, a total of 171 were conferred degrees by state health minister, Rushikesh Patel.
In his speech, the minister informed that the Civil Medicity Campus has adopted a model of organ retrieval and transplant at the same place, thereby making the process easier while providing a new lease of life to the recipient. He stressed on the emergence of Gujarat as a destination for medical tourism for a large part of India and some African nations.
For his part, V-C Dr Pranjal Modi, coordinator, State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO) informed that the university is all set to launch courses in paediatric nephrology and transplant. Majority of the attendees were transplant surgeons and medical students.
