The 21-year-old lady from Chandigarh – Harnaaz Sandhu has brought back the Miss Universe crown to India after 21 years. Former Miss Universe 2020 from Mexico, Andrea Meza crowned her at the 70th edition of the beauty pageant held in Eliat, Israel.
Harnaaz won the crown off nearly 80 contestants and edging out Nadia Ferreira from Paraguay and Lalela Mswane from South Africa in the final round of questioning.
The top three contestants were asked, “What advice would you deal with…pressures they face today?” The answer that won Harnaaz the crown was – “The biggest pressure the youth of today is facing, is to believe in themselves. To know that you are unique makes you beautiful. Stop comparing yourselves with others and let’s talk about more important things that are happening worldwide. Come out, speak for yourself because you are the leader of your life. You are the voice of your own. I believed in myself and that is why I am standing here today.”
Lara Dutta last won the Miss Universe crown in 2000.
