The Congress’ three-day Chintan Shivir, which concluded in Udaipur, on Sunday had a special discussion session on Gujarat elections this year. while the Congress Working Committee laid down several organisational reforms and the party’s stand on several key issues.
The final round of deliberations took place on Sunday with various panels submitting their reports to the Congress President, which have been submitted to the CWC for its final approval.
The CWC meeting was attended by top Congress leaders, including party chief Sonia Gandhi, former president Rahul Gandhi and senior leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Ghulam Nabi Azad, P Chidambaram, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
According to the Gujarat plan, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will make more frequent visits to the State to reach out to the voters across the State for the December elections. Meanwhile, Gujarat Congress will organise series of Sampark yatras covering the whole of Gujarat–top leaders will also take part in the drive.
Earlier, Sonia Gandhi said it was time for the party to introspect since it confronts unprecedented challenges. According to her, extraordinary situations call for extraordinary measures.
Some important organisational decisions were taken such as delegating zones and subzones to Gujarat leaders and appointing them as in-charge for the assembly elections.
While the former Union Minister will perform the responsibility at the district level, the State Chief will play the role at the zone level.
Gujarat state chief Jagdish Thakor vouched that central leadership has guided Gujarat leaders for the forthcoming elections. “Together we will win Gujarat.” he vouched.
