After a 38-year-old rape accused was sentenced to death by a court in Surat after completing the trial in just 33 days, Gujarat MoS for Home affairs, Harsh Sanghavi said that the state government has decided to put up hoardings all over the state, displaying the photograph of every rape convicts along with the details of their heinous deeds to set an example and prevent such crimes in the future.
On Tuesday, December 8, a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court sentenced the accused, Guddu Yadav to be hanged until death for raping and murdering a two-and-a-half-year-old girl in Surat. The accused, a migrant labourer from Bihar, had committed the heinous crime after watching porn.
In the purview of this case, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Harsh Sanghavi said that the Central government as well as the State government have taken effective actions in rape cases. “We have adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards all crimes and this case has set an example of how investigations and judiciary should work,” he said.
After the verdict, the morale of the police has boosted after the government took these cases in the state seriously and succeeded in getting strict and immediate punishment for the accused. most of the accused commit heinous rape crimes after watching porn movies and hence the police will keep a close check on who downloads porn videos or movies from mobile shops in the state, he further stated.
