Hot Drive-down Destinations Major Draw This New Year

| Updated: December 28, 2021 10:16 pm

The New Year is around the corner, that time of the year when almost everyone embarks on a short family getaway. However, the sudden surge in Covid-19 cases in the country on the back of Omicron is proving to be a curveball. But there is a silver lining that instead of taking longer destinations, travel enthusiasts can look at drive-down destinations for a shorter period of say, a day or two.

The tourism industry is one dynamic sector that has braved even the pandemic until it stopped work completely. And this time around, even the alarm bells of a possible third wave has not shaken the people’s enthusiasm and they are also willing to implement new rules.

According to Vivek Shukla, Director of Vibrant Holidays, “People have not yet inquired about the cancellation of bookings, but are only inquiring about rescheduling the dates”. The travellers also want to know the Covid-19 norms in different states and places where they may be planning to go.

Anshul Shah, the Managing Partner of All4 Seasons Holidays, says, “Small individual properties in Rajasthan have attracted people’s attention this year.”

He adds that people are preferring these relatively unspoilt properties to avoid crowds and they can spend quality time with close friends. This is why small properties in Rajasthan are picking up.

“Statue of Unity is completely booked out. People are a bit scared, they were planning to go to bigger cities but now they are avoiding that due to the restrictions. This is why they choose smaller trips,” he says.

As for overseas travellers, there’s a mixed bag. Few are returning early and a few have cancelled, adds Shah.
