The postponement of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2022 led to the cancelling of 850 Hotel Room Bookings, in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. A total of 300 rooms in The Leela, Gandhinagar and 210 rooms in The Hyatt Regency, Ashram Road, Ahmedabad were booked whereas a total of 145 rooms were booked in The Grand Mercure, Gift City for the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat summit which got postponed dure to Covid.
The decision to postpone the Vibrant Summit was taken on Thursday morning by the Gujarat Government and this led to cancelling of all the preparations made for the event. These hotels had booked 80% of their capacity for the three day event. The rooms were booked for VIPs, delegates, and entourage of five heads of state. The hotels also said that they were intimated to cancel the bookings after the decision was made.
Majority of the bookings were made in The Leela Gandhinagar, Fortune Haveli (Gandhinagar), Gift City Club (Gandhinagar), Grand Mercure (Gandhinagar), Hyatt Regency, Hyatt and Fortune Landmark. The Gift City Club was supposed to host a function for the Global CEOs in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
