Ostensibly targeting the TRS ( now renamed BRS) and it’s leader Chandrasekhar Rao, Narendra Modi placed himself into the victim’s box by saying that he is being abused daily.
While speaking to the BJP workers at Hyderabad, the prime Minister said he is made to consume “do kilo, dhai kilo, teen kilo gaali” (two, two-and-a-half, three kg of abuses) daily. He continued in the same lighter vein that, it is another matter that he is able to “digest”, and “convert” it to “nutrition”. He was referring to the “Aap thakte kyun nahin?” and “what is the source of your energy” kind of curiosity directed at him.
The battle lines have already started to be drawn in Telangana which is going to poll next year. While one sees Telangana Rashtra Samithi (renamed Bharat Rashtra Samithi) becoming acerbic towards BJP and increasingly targeting Narendra Modi, the prime minister lost no time in hitting back when he was in Hyderabad.
The prime minister said BJP has only a “positive agenda” for Telangana, whereas the adversaries are focussed on abusing him, neglecting to work towards the development of the state. Politics is a channel to serve the general public, and solve their problems. In Telangana, the party which came to power is completely focussed on abusing Modi and the BJP,” he said.
In the recently concluded Munugode bypoll the TRS won and the BJP stood second. Modi said the entire state government had to camp in the constituency for just one Assembly bypoll. He said only a few families had progressed in Telangana and the people of Telangana are suffering. “People of Telangana have been cheated by the state government,’’ he said.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhara Rao has made a habit of staying away from receiving the prime minister when he visits the state. This time also senior minister welcomed the PM who arrived at Begumpet airport from Visakhapatnam.
