ICC Women’s World Cup: ‘Women In Blue’ Outclass West Indies To Win A Crucial Match

Mithali Raj led Indian women’s team registered a massive win against West Indies in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2022. Stars of the match were southpaw Smriti Mandhana and Former India Captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Smriti in her fluent batting style scored a hundred in just 108 balls whereas Harmanpreet scored a quick fire 109 runs in just 107 balls. Their scores helped India post an imposing total of 317 runs. India won the match by 155 runs. 

Yastika Bhatia provided ‘Women in Blue’ a much needed quick start with a well made 31 runs in just 21 balls with 6 boundaries which helped Mandhana and Harmanpreet capitalize on a good start. With this performance the Indian team moves to the top of the points table with a net run rate of 1.333.

Sneh Rana

Right-arm off break bowler Sneh Rana was the pick of the bowler who took three wickets with an economy of 2.30. She took crucial wickets of aggressive batter Deandra Dottin and Hayley Mattews.  

Indian team fired at a crucial stage of the ICC Women’s World Cup as lackluster performance against New Zealand resulted in a 62 run loss for the team. Only notable performance in the last match was of Harmanpreet who scored 71 runs in just 62 balls and of Puja Vastrakar who bowled economically and provided India with 4 crucial breakthroughs.

Smriti Mandhana was awarded the player of the match award for her match winning innings.
