IIMA Opens Admissions for 2nd Batch of MBA-BPGP

| Updated: January 21, 2025 18:08

The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has opened admissions for the second cohort of its Blended Post Graduate Programme in Management (MBA-BPGP), previously known as the Online MBA. Designed for working professionals, entrepreneurs, and ambitious individuals, this two-year postgraduate programme allows participants to enhance their skills while maintaining their professional commitments.

According to IIMA, the MBA-BPGP distinguishes itself through its innovative structure and flexibility. The programme can be completed in two years, with an option to extend to three. Approximately 80% of the coursework is delivered through live online sessions, while the remaining 20% consists of intensive on-campus modules. This combination enables participants to balance academics with their professional careers effectively.

The MBA-BPGP spans six terms and involves around 900 hours of classroom instruction and project work, equivalent to 36 credits.

On-campus modules, conducted for about one week each term, encourage deep learning and collaboration. Despite its online delivery, the programme maintains IIMA’s renowned case-based pedagogy, fostering an engaging educational experience.

Peer learning is further facilitated through both in-person and technology-driven interactions, supported by IIMA’s distinguished faculty, known for their expertise in research and consulting.

Admissions will remain open on the official programme website until 25 March 2025.

Eligibility and Admission Process

To qualify for the programme, applicants must have completed 15 years of education in India and possess at least three years of full-time work experience after graduation. Candidates need valid scores in CAT, GMAT, or GRE (from tests taken within five years of March 10, 2025) or must pass the IIMA Admission Test (IAT). Shortlisted candidates will proceed to a personal interview as part of the final selection process.

Highlighting the programme’s significance, Professor Bharat Bhasker, Director of IIMA, stated: “IIMA believes in staying ahead of the curve, and our Blended Post Graduate Programme in Management (BPGP) provides a distinct edge to working professionals and entrepreneurs to fast-track their careers in today’s dynamic environment. It exemplifies IIMA’s commitment to making high-quality management education accessible to professionals with promising careers and shaping leaders for the future. Drawing on IIMA’s renowned faculty, extensive academic resources, and professional network, BPGP is a key initiative in IIMA’s strategy to lead future management education.”

Professor Joshy Jacob, Chairperson of BPGP, elaborated: “In line with the growing global preference for hybrid learning models, we have designed this two-year degree-granting programme to strengthen the managerial skills of working professionals. The in-person sessions focus on building essential personal and group management skills, while the online sessions emphasise analytical tools and frameworks. Participants benefit from IIMA’s academic and non-academic facilities, including a high-performance computing lab and an extensive digital library. Upon graduation, they will become part of the prestigious IIMA alumni network, ensuring continued learning and collaboration.”

Insights from the First Cohort

The inaugural batch of MBA-BPGP attracted participants from diverse educational backgrounds, including engineering, finance, arts, science, architecture, and law. The group had an average professional experience of 8.2 years, with most participants (56%) having 3–8 years of work experience. The average age of the batch was 32 years, with a 75:25 male-to-female ratio.

Participants represented various industries, including IT, consulting, financial services, manufacturing, healthcare, and government, reflecting the programme’s multidisciplinary and inclusive approach.

With the opening of admissions for its second cohort, IIMA’s MBA-BPGP continues to offer a transformative opportunity for professionals to advance their careers and gain access to a network of excellence.
