Jamnagar Airport Sees Spike in Traffic During Ambani Pre-Wedding Festivities

Jamnagar, India: Jamnagar Airport experienced a significant surge in air traffic and passenger volume due to the pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, which concluded on March 3rd.

Over the past week, the airport handled over 500 domestic and international flights, with approximately 4,500 passengers traveling through the facility between February 26th and March 3rd. Airport Director, D.K. Singh, stated, “The traffic has increased significantly… From February 26th to March 4th, 2024, we’ve witnessed 430 domestic and 110 international flight movements.”

On a single day, the airport managed an exceptional 120 flight movements. When asked about handling such a high volume, Singh credited the success to “increased manpower, coordination, and meticulous planning, a true team effort.”

Previously, Singh reported that “164 international passengers arrived, with a total of 4,500 passengers handled for both arrival and departure.”

To accommodate the influx, the airport received temporary permission to handle international flights from February 26th to March 6th. A dedicated Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine (CIAQ) counter was established for this brief period.

Additionally, the airport expanded the departure area, increased the number of X-ray machines, and bolstered their workforce through agencies and personnel loaned from other airports.
