Jharkhand IAS Officer Takes On BJP MP, Twitter War Erupts

| Updated: September 4, 2022 09:47

In an expected act of vengeance, a sedition complaint has been filed against Deograh District Magistrate Manjunath Bhajantri who stood up against the rowdy and unlawful behaviour of Jharkhand BJP MP Nishikant Dubey.

When BJP MP Nishikant Dubey took to Twitter to vent his anger over FIR against him and nine other people, including fellow BJP MP Manoj Tiwari for forcing their way into air traffic control at Deogarh airport in Jharkhand to allegedly force officials to clear their chartered flight., no one expected Manjunath Bhajantri, IAS and Deputy Commissioner of the temple town to stand up and reply back. And reply he did, gently yet firmly.

The BJP MP had barged into the ATC along with his two sons and supporters insisting to obtain clearance for their chartered flight to take off from the Deoghar airport beyond the scheduled time. The officer had confronted them. The nine people were returning from Dumka after meeting the family members of the minor Hindu girl who was burnt alive by a Muslim boy.

After reaching Delhi, Dubey complained to the Delhi police and managed to slap ‘zero FIR’ on the charge of sedition and under the Officials Secret Acts on the 2011 batch IAS officer who is the District Magistrate of Deoghar, was slapped with ‘zero FIR’ on the charge of sedition and under the Officials Secret Acts.

A heated exchange on Twitter broke out between the two. In a series of tweets, Dubey and the Deoghar Deputy Commissioner charged each other with violating norms to enter the ATC room.

While the officer maintained that he acted because he was duty-bound to take care of the safety of the persons travelling, the MP cried foul play.
