Ahmedabad Railway Station at Kalupur and the Sabarmati Railway station will get a grand makeover in the next five years. While Kalupur station will be refurbished on the theme of Modhera Sun Temple, Sabarmati station will be developed to increase rail connectivity to cities and towns of South India.
Union Home & Cooperation Minister Amit Shah made the announcement while he was in Gujarat yesterday. During his visit, Shah inaugurated and laid foundation stones for various development schemes worth Rs210 crores in Gandhinagar. These schemes are part of Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) projects.
Talking about the Kalupur station redevelopment, Shah said, “Today, along with numerous developmental works done, I assure you that Ahmedabad’s railway station, too, will be developed. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visualised it, Ahmedabad’s railway station will be developed as grand as Modhera Sun Temple.”
Shah also elaborated on Sabarmati Railway Station and said that more number of trains will be connected to South India. “We are going to make sure that passengers travelling to South India can board trains from Sabarmati itself and don’t need to go to Kalupur,” he said.
Furthermore, Shah also announced that 14 lakes of Ahmedabad city and under AUDA would be inter-connected. He said 1,200 new ponds will be developed in the Gandhinagar constituency.
