Kerala transport minister Antony Raju visisted Gujarat to assess the viability of replacing the diesel-powered KSRTC buses with buses powered by liquefied natural gas. KSRTC CMD Biju Prabhakar accompanied him.

They examined the Gujarat Road Transport Corporation’s LNG-converted buses in Vadodara. The Gas Authority of India (GAIL) and a private enterprise collaborated on the conversion.

Five buses will have five LNG engines pursuant to a request by KSRTC to GAIL. Additionally, they’ll send drivers to Gujarat for LNG bus training. After evaluating the services, more actions will be undertaken, the minister stated.

In Gujarat, GAIL offers LNG at a 10% discount or at the market pricing for diesel. In order to establish such facilities in Kerala, the minister also visited the Gujarat auto recycling facility.
