Gujarat ATS Arrest Teacher For Question Paper Leak

| Updated: February 1, 2023 14:52

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested a high school teacher from the Malkangiri district for leaking a question paper from the Gujarat government’s competitive exam for recruiting junior clerks.

Saroj Malla, who was arrested on Monday, is a science teacher at the Kartanpalli government high school, according to police. Previously, the Gujarat ATS had arrested 15 people in Vadodara in this connection, and during their interrogation, Malla’s name came up.

According to the Malkangiri police, the Gujarat Panchayat Service Board (GPSSB) advertised for 1,181 junior clerks and received 9.53 lakh applications in response. On Sunday, the exam was to be held at 2,995 locations across the state.

Malkangiri SP Nitesh Wadhwani said that hours before the exam, the question paper was leaked and the test had to be cancelled. Police said the leaked questions were sent to Malla and he had provided the answer. “Based on the preliminary inquiry information shared by the Gujarat Police, an investigation was conducted, following which the teacher was apprehended.”

Earlier, the GPSSB had stated that the exam had been postponed after the GPSSB received information from the police that they had detained a suspect and seized a copy of the question paper early on Sunday.

Sandeep Kumar, Gujarat’s Panchyat department’s development commissioner said that the exam will be held in the next 100 days.
