| Updated: June 14, 2022 10:26

The Nupur Sharma controversy had created a bedlam of tension, not just in India, but abroad as well. But, the Kuwait government is not going to tolerate any of it.The Government of Kuwait has decided to arrest and deport all the expats who protested against Nupur Sharma’s derogatory comments against Prophet Muhammad.

A Kuwait based, Indian journalist named  Jeeves Erinjeri, said that the Kuwait government will not go soft on Indian expats and they are likely to be deported soon. The Kuwait government is strict with its laws, including labor laws for expats. He further added that there won’t be help from the Indian government either, as the Indian embassy had also been asking the citizens to follow the laws.

Instructions have also been given to arrest expats who were a part of the demonstration in the Fahaheel in support of the Prophet. The demonstration took place after the Friday prayers. Kuwait does not take violation of its laws and regulations lightly and hence, actions will be taken against the expats who organized sit-ins and controversial events in the Gulf nation.
