The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall in several parts of Gujarat, Daman, Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli over the next one week. No major change is expected in maximum temperatures.
According to the IMD bulletin, isolated light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely in North Gujarat districts including Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, and Mahisagar. Similar conditions are expected in all districts of South Gujarat — Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, and Tapi — and the Union Territories of Daman and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
In Saurashtra, rain is also likely in Surendranagar, Rajkot, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Botad, and Diu. Other parts of the state will remain dry on Thursday.
For Friday, the IMD has predicted that weather conditions are expected to remain similar, with isolated showers likely again in the same districts across North Gujarat, South Gujarat, and Saurashtra, including Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and Diu. Dry weather is expected in the rest of the state.
The IMD said that isolated rain is forecast in Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, and Dahod in North Gujarat.
On June 7, all South Gujarat districts and UTs will continue to see chances of rain. In Saurashtra, rain is expected in Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Botad, and Diu. Dry conditions will prevail elsewhere, it said.
For June 8, the IMD said that rain activity may shift more prominently to South Gujarat, particularly in Narmada, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, and the UTs. Amreli and Bhavnagar in Saurashtra are also likely to receive isolated rainfall. The rest of the region will likely remain dry.
According to the IMD, rain is expected to persist in parts of South Gujarat — Dang, Navsari, Valsad, and Tapi — and in Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli. Saurashtra districts Amreli and Bhavnagar may also see light to moderate showers.
It said that on June 10, a similar rainfall pattern is expected, with light to moderate showers forecast in Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, as well as Amreli and Bhavnagar in Saurashtra.
On June 11, the forecast remains unchanged, with isolated rainfall likely in the same South Gujarat districts and Saurashtra’s Amreli and Bhavnagar. Other regions are expected to experience dry weather.
The forecast has also stated that the upper air cyclonic circulation over South Gujarat and the neighbouring region between 1.5 and 3.1 km above mean sea level has become less marked. South-westerly to westerly winds are prevailing at lower levels over the region.
