TMC leader and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated that the proposed amendments are against the “spirit of cooperative federalism” and has written 2 letters so far to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last eight days on proposed changes in IAS cadre rules.
Mamata Banerjee wrote Prime minister Narendra Modi urging him to withdraw the proposed changes to rules for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) cadre. She called the Central government draft a draconian draft which was against the foundation and basic structure of the Constitutional Scheme.
Mamta Banerjee wrote that the proposed amendment will create a “Fear of Psychosis” among officers and will leave a huge impact on their performances.
Mamata Banerjee wrote, “The moot point of the further revised draft amendment proposal is that an officer, whom the central government may choose to take out a state to any part of the country without taking his/her consent and without the agreement of the state government under whom he/she is serving, may now stand released from his/her current assignment forthwith.”
PM Narendra Modi or PMO has not yet answered or shared anything regarding this matter so far.
