Man Complains to Police that His In-Laws have Kidnapped His Wife

A man from Banaskantha claims that his in-laws have kidnapped his wife as they had earlier disapproved of her love marriage with him. Accordingly, Banaskantha district police have registered a case of kidnapping, unlawful assembly, rioting, armed with deadly weapons, unlawful assembly with common intent, criminal intimidation, and trespassing against eight of the wife’s in-laws which includes cousins, relatives and uncles of her. 

Karsanbhai Darji told the IANS that he was engaged to Arti a year ago. Shortly after that, Arti’s father reconsidered his decision and wanted to marry Arti with someone else.To escape that, Arti and Karsanbhai decided to marry on June 25 this year, and did. 

Karsanbhai further shared that on Saturday, Arti’s relatives, helmed by her uncles, Parkhaji Darji, Hiraji Darji and six others entered their bedroom and pointed a knife at Arti and conducted her kidnapping. Before leaving, they also beat up the complainant, his parents and other family members. They went as far as threatening to kill them and then, they ran away in two cars. 

Tharad Police Station Officer shared to the IANS that the complaint was filed on Saturday night. After that police teams were formed and sent to Dhanera where the wife’s parents have been reportedly living for the last 2-3 decades. If required a team will also be sent to Rajasthan, to find more about the woman, as it is their family’s native place.
