A man named Naresh from Faridabad was arrested nearly six months after allegedly drowning an 18-month-old child in a water tanker over a dispute of Rs 50 with the child’s father. As per the police, the incident took place on February 5 this year. Naresh, the 22-year-old is a resident of Secor 56, is reported a drug addict and is unemployed.

The PRO of Faridabad Police, Sube Singh stated that Naresh confessed to murdering the 18-month-old and added that he constantly had arguments with the child’s father.

Naresh snatched Rs 50 from one of his neighbour’s 8-year-old daughter which led to an argument between them. After the argument, Naresh started nursing a grudge against the neighbour.

On February 5, Naresh spotted his neighbour’s 18-month-old son playing alone when he allegedly picked him up, took him to his flat and drowned the toddler in the water tanker. He closed it with a wire to avoid suspicion. The PRO said that Naresh fled from the site after murdering the child and changed his location frequently. He was arrested with the help of technical support and police sources and the amulet that were tied around the child’s neck have been seized. He further added that Naresh was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custory.
