Man Dupes 34 Investors Of Rs 3 Crore Using A Fake Name

| Updated: February 4, 2024 20:33

The Gir Somnath police arrested a man from Ahmedabad for cheating 34 investors of Rs 3 crore by using a fake name. The man, who called himself Kevin Bhatt, and his wife Rupa, who lived in Shahibaug, promised high returns in share markets to the investors. The complaint was lodged by Jaydeepgiri Gowsawami at Una police station in December last year. He claimed that Bhatt and his wife ran away with Rs 2.92 crore of 34 investors.

While Bhatt is in jail, his wife is still absconding. The police found out that Bhatt’s real name was Jayesh Vadher, a native of Chorwad who had moved to Ahmedabad several years ago. He had changed his identity to carry out the fraud. The police also discovered that Vadher had cases of kidnapping, rape and cheating registered against him in Ahmedabad. Assistant superintendent of police, Jitendra Agrawal, said that they were investigating the matter further.
