In a shocking incident, a 15-year-old girl, a tenth-grade student from Rajkot, was reportedly subjected to rape and unnatural sex by a man known to her family. The accused, a 35-year-old father of two who runs a salon, was a friend of the girl’s father and lived in their neighborhood.
The Bhaktinagar police have arrested the accused along with a woman who ran a beauty parlour and was a friend of the accused. The man allegedly took the girl to the woman’s house when her husband was away at work.
Inspector MM Sarvaiya of Bhaktinagar police station revealed that the accused had been sexually assaulting the girl for the past six months. He allegedly blackmailed her with threats of circulating her explicit videos if she did not comply with his demands.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Nilesh Makwana noted that the girl’s academic performance had declined and she had stopped socializing with her peers. Her parents grew concerned about her changed behavior and upon investigation, discovered a mobile chat between her and the accused, which contained vulgar language and requests to meet.
After her parents counseled her, the girl confided in them about the horrific ordeal she had been enduring. Following a complaint lodged by her father, the police have booked the accused and his female accomplice under IPC sections 376 (3) and 376(2)(N) for repeated rape of the same woman, 377 for unnatural sex, and relevant sections of the Pocso Act.
