A mid teenager aged 16, was apparently raped in exchange of promise of money by a 35-year old man inside a bus.
The girl has 3 brothers, out of which one was having convulsions. Her mother took all her children to the state-run KT Children Hospital on Tuesday. While the mother sought to give support to her son, the girl and her two younger brothers went out to purchase food.
The girl caught a man’s attention who was on a bike. He started talking to her and offered to buy snacks for them, besides promising to give them money. All the three siblings went out with the man who took them to Race Course Ring Road. He purchased ice cream and snacks for the three.
He then asked the girl to come to temple town Chotila with him. He promised good money to her, if she did so. After dropping the two brothers at the hospital, he took the girl to Greenland Chowkdi. They boarded a sleeper coach bus for Chotila from there.
He allegedly raped her inside the moving bus and the girl was too afraid to fight back.
While this was happening, the girl’s mother grew concerned the moment she got to know from her sons that her daughter had gone with an unknown man. She approached the Pradymannagar police, who began a hunt for the accused by scanning several CCTVs.
The accused and the alleged victim returned to Rajkot at about 2.30 A.M. As he went to drop her at the hospital, police were already waiting for him at the location and caught him. The accused’s name is Hanif Arab. He is a rickshaw driver who lives in Bhagwatipara. He was filed against sections of IPC and Pocso Act.
